Your Plants
Keep Dying
But it’s not your fault
Your environment sucks
You’ve been lied to and led to believe it’s your fault but it’s not.
Most plants, including many common houseplants, are not well adapted to living in your home
Let There Be Light
Keeping shade drawn and windows clean is only the first step to increasing how much light a given space receives.
I frost my windows with cheap window frosting both for privacy and to scatter the light more. While this won’t actually increase the total amount of light it can help to spread light to otherwise darker corners while preventing hotspots.
There are a lot more ways to increase the quantity and quality of the light in our homes. I discuss this and more in my upcoming pamphlet “LITFA Plant Care” but I’m giving you the most important bits for free.
And nothing is more important to your plant’s health than LIGHT!
The biggest factor in the health of your plants is the overall environment.
The #1 environmental factor that is fueling your plant’s growth (or lack thereof) is LIGHT (or lack thereof)
The first thing you need to do to increase your plant’s health is to give it adequate light.
In most indoor spaces it is nearly impossible to get enough light without supplementing.
When adapted correctly, our plants seem to THRIVE with increases in light (to a point.) They use available nutrients more, are more resistant to pests, and growth accelerates.
“Many factors are important when it comes to a healthy plant, but nothing will cause a plant to suffer like a lack of proper light.”
